1, Internet Management Issues (Yonezawa-san, Inami-san)
  • Board approves a fixed-rate contract with Ms. Inami, web designer for 180,000 yen per year. Contract includes periodic updates to existing pages in Japanese and English. New pages and unusually large updates are subject to additional fees.
  • Yonezawa-san reports fewer hits to AIA Japan website than expected. Board agrees on necessity to increase website visibility.
  • AIA Hong Kong website reviewed. Charles suggests changing our opening-page images to more modern architectural work similar to Hong Kong. Great similarities in the design between AIA Hong Kong’s web site and AIA Japan’s web site were noted.
2,General Report (President)
  • Report on International Chapter Meeting at Grassroots Convention, February.
  • Frank Lloyd Wright Movie on March 24 at Tokyo American Club.
  • AIA dinner/talk on sustainable architecture with Craig Curtis from Miller/Hull Partnership, Seattle on May 31.
  • Craig Curtis from Miller/Hull-AHEC lecture on June 1. (AIA Japan 1 year anniversary on June 2)
  • AIA National Convention in Los Angeles, June 8-10
3, Corporate Affiliates Report (Sakurai-san)
  • Carl Hansen & Son, Japan KK and Erco TOTO are corporate affiliates. Board recommends affiliate members to be included in mailing list of event announcements.
  • Jim to ask Erco TOTO if interested in sponsoring Itsuko Hasegawa lecture.
  • Board agrees on pro-rated discount fees to apply to applications received toward end of the year.
  • Call for more introductions.
4, Future Events Planning (President)
  • Pafford Clay exhibition update: Not to be planned for this year.
  • Members exhibition update: AIJ may be possible location. Details to be determined.
  • Itsuko Hasegawa, newly appointed Hon. FAIA: AIA Japan to plan celebration in Fall of this year

5, Takenaka HQ Building Tour (Yoshimoto)

  • CES “warning list” reviewed on-line. Jim to seek ways to notify members
