1,General Report (President)
- Upcoming Regional Conference in Hong Kong to be attended
by Riccardo Tossani, Jim Lambiasi, and Jun Mitsui, with
pending attendee Wac Kuno. Three missions for AIA Japan
delegates are:
- Informal meeting with Pacific Northwest Region
- Pacific Northwest Region Board Meeting
- Itsuko Hasegawa lecture (Jim to translate)
- “Lost in Translation” Panel Discussion
(Jun Mitsui is one of panel members)
- Leadership Development Scholarship to be offered by
Pacific Northwest Region, for attendance to the Grassroots
Convention in Washington, DC during Feb. 8-10, 2007. President
to notify all members by email. Airfare and registration
fees waived with scholarship.
- WAAJ and AIA Japan to hold Hisao Koyama lecture in Oct.
14 14:30 at the Kyudo-Kaikan. Attendance free for AIA
Japan members. Poster and tentative plan for WAAJ 2007
Seminar Series and Building Tours are distributed.
- Newsletter to be put together before the HK conference.
2,Financial Report (Treasurer)
- Current financial statement reviewed. Board confirms
sound financial status up-to-date and decides to withhold
dues increase.
3, Membership (CES Head)
- 4 new members join AIA Japan. New Hon. AIA: Itsuko Hasegawa.
Lost Hon. AIA: Kazuo Shinohara
- Membership Drive: Each board member strongly encouraged
to recruit one member per year.
- Member listing on Website: Members encouraged to send
bio to enrich member list page.
- Corporate Affiliate category may be necessary in future.
TBD. 5 affiliate members so far.
4, Upcoming Events
- Riccardo to ask Italian architect Gae Aulenti if she
would give lecture in mid/late October. Results to be
determined.
- Church designed by Wac will subject of upcoming tour
for CES credit (November?).
5, Other Items
- Simplification of website structure: President suggests
simplification of top page menu. Yonezawa-san to ask web
designer for fee quote.
- President agreed to also fill out web contents as soon
as possible
- Policy for handling miscellaneous inquiries from non-AIA
members: Board votes in favor of giving secretary discretion
to filter incoming inquiries, respond, and to politely
declining requests not related to AIA Japan missions and
activities
- Sales of AIA Documents: currently, AIA Japan is not
set up to handle document requests, which are likely to
be few and far between anyway. It is possible to buy single
copies via fax through state chapters (Jim has done this
successfully through Connecticut), and it was agreed to
handle requests by offering this level of information.
6, Next Meeting
- Tentatively scheduled for Friday, December 1, and will
be held at a local restaurant where we can combine with
bonenkai.
