Asahi shuzo virtual tour: One of the World`s Largest Sake Brewery Architecture Tour by CEO of Asahi Shuzo Kazuhiro Sakurai & Jun Mitsui
SUMMARY:
One of the world’s largest sake brewery virtual tour by CEO of Asahi Shuzo. Kazuhiro Sakurai will provide a live architectural tour of the brewery building and the design of the bridge by Kengo Kuma & Associates. In addition to the virtual tour, there will be a short presentation on the design of the Asahi Shuzo New York Brewery by Jun Mitsui.
How can the modern facilities help produce high-end sake, temperature control and ventilation systems compared to the traditional Sake Breweries? How does high technology improve its building performance? The brewery requires a lot of manpower, and needs a lot of space to craft quality sake, while being located deep in the mountains which also improves the sustainability of the facilities and decreases energy consumption.
The virtual tour takes the audience to a new bridge. After suffering from heavy rains several years ago which destroyed the bridge in front of the brewery. Kengo Kuma has designed a new bridge with wooden structure rather than a concrete structure that improves physical, emotional, and social well-being of users
This event is an informal discussion about architecture and design for breweries, and modern sake brewery buildings, with sake toasts starting right after the virtual tour and presentation.
Learning Objectives
- Understand the modern brewery that saves energy consumption and decreases the carbon footprint of the facilities compared to the traditional brewery. Explaining the modern building mechanical system for improving indoor air quality as the brewery cannot allow any air contaminants.
- Demonstrate how natural materials used in bridges can improve the safety of users in relation to the seismic activities in Japan.
- How does the natural surroundings of the site around the facilities improve physical, emotional, social well-being of users, and sustainability.
- The strategies that promote human health and happiness, the traditional Japanese building look alike New York sake brewery uses natural wooden materials and provide unique cultural opportunities to the neighborhood.
