SUMMARY:
Get lectured by TIM PORTER, a Canadian photographer, painter and filmmaker, known for his highly formalist photographs. He will share his ideas and thoughts about his works, in permanent display at the beautiful KINTAN restaurant in Ebisu. Enjoy a relaxed Friday afternoon with art, drinks, and stimulating talk. Also in attendance will be the store owner and interior designer of the restaurant. Tim Porter Studio
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Ar. Tim Porter is a Canadian artist and filmmaker born in Washington, DC, USA.
After studying modern literature and philosophy at the University of Virginia, he took up photography in Montréal in the late 1960s. His work was first shown in the 1969 national survey exhibition, A Review of Contemporary Photography in Canada.
Porter was active in the Vancouver art community during the 1970s, where he contributed to the controversial 1970 National Film Board of Canada show, B.C. Almanac(h) – C.B. In 1978, he first travelled to Japan thanks to an
arts grant from the Canada Council for the Arts in Ottawa.
He has travelled and photographed extensively in Japan and parts of China, India and the South Pacific. His work has been exhibited internationally since 1980 and is held in numerous private and public collections.
Tim’s studio is in beautiful Zama, Japan – where he is a painter, filmmaker, photographer and aspiring Japanese gardener.
